I used this to trim my Pandemic van which came after I'd seen all the westerns. First, I've never used a ruler in my life. Therefore, slight bleeding was to be expected the first few times. But after the second application I felt quite comfortable. The product comes with a sufficient stock of blade halves. While blade changing is easy enough, this is one area I would deduct a star for. It is difficult to close the top hatch after inserting the blade. You almost have to separate it from the base so that it doesn't touch the blade on the solid base. Otherwise, the blade will slide out along with the breech. You can't push the blade back because you can only push against the sharp edge. In fact, you CAN, but you probably wouldn't be happy. In addition, you can simply push it away and lean it against the dressing table top. But it feels like the blade is getting dull. I would put a towel between the countertop and the rim to push it back down. The new blades are sharp so I got slightly better results (fewer cuts) after using them twice. I'll be able to use each blade 6 times before throwing it away. My Van Dyke lasted exactly 3 months as did using the product. I'm back to being my clean shaven self but will return to this product when I get the urge to grow it out again.
