Review on 🚰 Enhanced Gravity Fed Filter Purification Elements by Berkey by Heather Wood

Berkey is the best scam in water filtration and softening

The company that makes the Berkey filter is really a scam. Despite being so popular and having been around for so long, they're not NSF certified (this is a basic certification that requires independent verification that your filter actually does what it says it does and doesn't add anything to the water) . Also, they are not sold in California because they do not want to comply with California's lead-free law. Berkey argues that this requirement is too expensive and inconvenient, which is a big red flag for such a well-known and well-selling manufacturer. Furthermore, Berkey only sells through distributors who have no idea how the product works or what its specs are, and only repeats nonsense aimed at confusing the average person as to how the product works. They were also caught tampering with LSU lab results, and their fraudulent claims are refuted by the professor cited in the report. They also advertise a "test" using food coloring to make sure the filter is working, which is completely unscientific. Also, from the numerous tests people have run on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS - the amount of substance floating in your water), they have found that Berkey-filtered tap water ends up with a higher TDS (even though it tastes better). One wonders what exactly their filters add to the water. Finally, while most reputable gravity filter manufacturers will state what their filters are made of (e.g. charcoal, coconut shells, etc.), Berkey simply states that their filters are made from a "proprietary formula" and "mixed environments." I suspect their filters contain bad stuff and they don't want to be tested by the NSF and therefore can't comply with California law. It's very shady. I would not recommend using their filters.
