If you're going to use a key ring, just be aware that you'll have to remove the key ring and peel back the silicone cover to get at the key inside the fob, but how often do you actually need access to the key? The key ring goes through two slots in the lid; I think you could cut off the lid if you don't want the key ring going through. But again, how often do you need the key.
