Review on πŸ“ž Panasonic KX TG5633B GigaRange Cordless Answering Phone by Danielle Hartman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very good but some features are missing

I had a previous model and bought this one because I needed the extra handset that came with it. One thing that disappointed me about this phone is the lack of a backlit keyboard. Without this feature, found on most Panasonic phones and earlier versions, it is very difficult to make calls in the dark. This phone has the same ringtones as the old model. It would be nice if they added more melodies as there are very few of them. The phone is smaller than the previous model but I think the size and buttons are ok as they are still big enough for most people. On the positive side, these phones are among the best out there as they are very user-friendly. I have one on every floor of my house including the basement. The reception is always very good and the paging function works great. The new model comes with a few extra bells and whistles that you don't need. For example, change the color of the message indicator. Unfortunately, marketing often gets in the way of good design and logic. Caller ID incorrectly shows some missed calls received on other phones. It's not a big issue, but it lowers my rating by one star. Panasonic is aware of this problem and keeps releasing new versions of phones with the same problem while promoting other useless new features. The lack of a backlit keyboard deducts another star. If you don't use your phone in the dark and don't care about a caller ID issue, this is a 5 star product.
