Okay, so this isn't the most romantic thing you can do to update that part of your life that's an everyday thing. But if you do, the lid's "slow close" feature is actually a lot cooler than you might think. You can bypass this if needed, but why? The assembly is quick and the seat is very secure. I had old nylon bolts and nuts that kept coming loose and were difficult to tighten. Not with this design; the bolts are made of metal, have a slot for a screwdriver at the top and are therefore easy to tighten. I do not mind.
