I decided to measure the mat with the tape measure that came with the kit. The mat is not 18 inches but 17.5 inches on the long side and 11.5 inches on the short side, not 12 inches. Not that it's the biggest difference, but if someone measures with it, their measurements will be wrong. The small reservoir does not close at all. If you tried to travel with it, it would all end up in your pocket. I can't say anything about other items yet, since I haven't used them. This can be helpful for a beginner but definitely not one who knows sewing as these tools are pretty mediocre. It's definitely not worth the price I paid for it.
