I bought this unit because I thought it would be great to take my vinyl collection with me sometimes. I was hoping to share the experience of listening to old music as I have recordings from the 1920's. Unpacked immediately upon receipt of the goods. It was exactly what was pictured. He looked great. Glad to try it, I put one of my vintage Christmas records on it. It was a regular 33 foot vinyl record. So nothing special and a special stylus for 78 inputs was not required. OH BOY, I thought, shaking my head in disappointment. The sound was TERRIBLE, absolutely TERRIBLE. I have $5 bluetooth speakers that sound better than these. The description of this product states: as this wears down the grooves in your records. What good is a player if you can't play back your recordings as long as you like? Technically, most records are made on vinyl. The 33 vinyl record has a 0.7 mil groove. 78 has a 0.3 mil wide groove. If you use a wider needle on an old 78 record, you'll ruin it. The pin of this product is made of metal. Right, metal. What happens when you put metal on plastic? Say goodbye to the record. Most styli of the time were made of diamonds or sapphires. They would fit snugly in the groove and reproduce high quality sound. Over time, the record will break, that's normal. However, using the wrong pen will speed up the failure. Oh, and you can't replace or upgrade the stylus. Carriage and needle are sold as a unit and are only compatible with this machine. Other spare parts are not suitable. Stop! and do yourself a favor, look for other better quality players. As for me, I will not ruin my collection because of a poor quality product. GARBAGE.
