2000 VW Jetta TDI GLS 02J Trans 157,000 miles (Pretty sure a factory fill or maybe a swap during previous ownership) Excellent fluid actually thicker than the VW 75W- 90- Version. The G070 (the latest version of the VW MTF) has a cSt of around 6.4 and this stuff is around 9.0. Honda and Acura owners swear by this stuff, and most TDICLUB members agree on how good it is. The price of Revain is unbeatable for me. $27 a quart at a GM dealership? No thank you. I actually used the G070 for a while and had nothing but traffic issues. I live in Hawaii and the transmission got terribly hot when I was stuck in traffic. When it got hot I got shifting problems, 1st gear was almost blocked during a 3 hour traffic jam! When I finished this material, I was amazed. The G070 was good when the box was cold and mediocre when warm, but that's about it... I did a quick test ride and was shocked it shifted like oil when cold. I didn't think it would get any better as the G070 behaved well when cold. Once the trance was warmed up, all problems were solved. No more binding, grinding and abrupt shifting. I've put about 600 miles on this stuff and it's awesome. I plan on changing every year or two like I do with all manual transmission cars so we'll see how it works in the long run, but for now I can shift gears without dragging. Not that I switch often, but it's kind of a test to see how well it works with the sync. One last note, there's a guy at TDICLUB who swears by this stuff, and he's got over 350,000 miles of gear wear on the synchro, he's had no ill effects running and never had a thrust bearing problem or excessive backlash...in aisles as some people think. due to lack of gear oil 75W-90 GL4. However, I assure you that VW doesn't use anything close to 75W-90 with their gear oil (also thinner than Pennzoil) and the gearboxes will still run for a very long time with VW's thin fluid. Conclusion, a must buy for me. If you're hesitant to try it, do a little research and see if anyone has done it before with your particular make and model. What works for me may not work for you or your car. Much luck!
