Review on ๐Ÿ’พ KOOTION 250GB Portable External SSD: USB-C Solid State Drive for Gaming PC/Mac/Linux/Android with Lanyard Hole by Hector Mak

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great performance in a compact package

This portable SSD has turned out better than I expected. It's super light and compact, and the USB-C connector means you'll never have to connect a cable backwards. More importantly, the drive I received is well behaved and works as advertised with no major flaws. According to ATTO and CrystalDiskMark, the SSD achieves read/write speeds of up to 450/250MB/s. I also tried copying large 24GB files to the drive and it maintained a consistent speed of 190MB/s, never getting stuck or unresponsive. Like most SSDs, this drive will gradually slow down if you fill it up completely in a single pass (e.g. H2testw stress test), but I've found it to perform well in real-world conditions. Internally, this SSD is based on UFS2. .1 flash memory chip with JMS901 UFS to USB bridge. This is noteworthy as the behavior/performance is highly dependent on the particular UFS module present. I'm happy with the contents of my SSD, but theoretically other devices may not have the same chip. It would be a good idea to read a few reviews to get an idea of possible variations. Overall, I don't find any flaws in the SSD I received. Reliable performance at a reasonable price. It would have been nice if a USB C-to-C cable was included (in addition to the 1-foot C-to-A cable), but otherwise no major issues.
