I can't speak to the effectiveness of this product but the overall design and durability are great. My APC surge protector drops so many packets as they pass through it, rendering it useless. Luckily, APC has provided a TVSS ground screw for connecting this device. I also use it to protect the serial line between ISY994i and 2413S PLM. Before purchasing this I had a lightning jump from the power line to the network, I believe through these 2 devices as they were the only exposed connection point between the network and the power line. Hopefully this will prevent something like this from happening again.
