Background: I had a Motorola camera baby monitor for our first child. It was OK, but it appeared we were at the limit for reception - I had to get the receiver and the antenna is JUST the right position otherwise the loud alarm would go off that it lost connection. I figured between our cellphones and the TV on Wi-Fi maybe it was interfering with the connection to the camera, but the WiFi signal is good. So, this looked like a GREAT purchase - it RELIES on WiFi (it doesn't have a direct connection to the camera) which I thought would be great since I know WiFi is strong where I am. I also liked the idea of the smart apps - my wife and I liked to keep track of feedings, sleep, diapering, meds, temperature, etc and having it integrated into the baby monitor sounded great. PLUS we were going to need two cameras for our second child. The reality: setup was a nightmare. I turned on the base unit and clicked "start" to begin. I logged into my wireless network. and it brought me back to the "start" screen. I did this for like a half hour before I gave up and called tech support only to find out you CAN'T CALL TECH SUPPORT. You have to go online and create a support ticket first. Whatever, I do that, and then call with my support ticket number. When I finally got to someone coincidentally the basestation asked to update. OK. so we run the update and the same thing happens. Click "Start" login to the WiFi, and back to the start screen. Over and over. Then. another update. I ended up spending an hour doing updates and this was all news to the phone support representative. So finally we're up and running and somehow the reception is still an issue. I'm clearly on the edge of not being able to get a signal because the audio will keep cutting out. Thankfully you can turn off the alarm when the camera disconnects but. what happens if the connection breaks and you're asleep? So you kind of need to keep it on. Then, the audio is VERY quiet. I saw other reviews about this but figured a) I'm pretty smart so I'll figure it out and b) I'm a light sleeper. It is REALLY quiet. I have it turned up all the way in the app and the volume of the base station up as much as possible. On the flip side, I figure a baby will cry pretty loud/long so hopefully it will wake me.Next, setting up two cameras. No problem. Easy. But how do you monitor both rooms? Split screen? Cycle between the feeds? Nope. Nothing. Support's answer was that you have to pick one camera. If I want to monitor both I could bring the other feed up on my phone. Seriously. So apparently I have to choose which child I'm going to worry about that night and listen for. Nice. The apps: so I setup the journal or diary app and looks cool. How do I add the second child? Not possible. You can only apparently give a _____ about one child. Awesome. What else? Oh, the temperature sensors/alerts are useless. I've turned off all notifications because they're all false. Like I set it to alert me if the room gets about 78F and it constantly goes off. It isn't more than 72 in that room. Useless. Switching between narrow and wide zoom takes FOREVER to switch. There must be a little elf in there that changes the optics.Soooooo all in all I couldn't recommend this product any less. I'm convinced between the first Motorola camera we had, and this product, that Motorola basically sold their name/brand to some second or third rate manufacturer that make a garbage product and got people (like me!) to buy it because "Motorola is a good brand!" I hope Motorola got a ton of money for this deal because I'll never buy anything Motorola again.
