Part of the "shelf" looks like some kind of cheap, thin, cloth-like plastic with the ends reversed and melted. "Instructions" are simply pictures showing the numbered parts of the circuit for their placement. If you first attach the 2 long pieces to the shorter end and tuck in all the way, you can VERY CAREFULLY AND SOFTLY slide the "fabric" of the shelf, piece by piece, alternately. But any pressure/tension and a melted "seam" will break. When you're done, gather all the torn shelves, a bottle of Gorilla Gel, and some large paperclips (popsicles maybe?) - and lots of patience. as long as there is enough to wear every pair of shoes. Only one side was usually completely torn, so I put it out of sight on the back shelf. Best to skip that.
