Motion detection is good. I like at night. I'm getting older now so having some light for late night bathroom breaks is a good thing. He sees me long before I see him. I like that there are many color options. This is going to sound silly, but I also love how different spectrums of light affect the color of the water in the bowl. If you buy one of these you will see what I mean. Although I don't like how hard it is to set it to 1 color. It just never sticks and I find that very disappointing. I don't know how long they will last (durability). Most of these products only last up to 1 or 2 battery changes and then they are ready. I don't have high expectations for it because it's difficult to set up the light. they keep falling. So. The jury's out. Maybe I have a bad set.
