Short story. Lightning struck my house. It broke my Macbook Pro and a 2011 HP desktop that I used for small things like web browsing etc. I have also used it as a storage location for photos, music and taxes. I usually back everything up, but not my taxes this time. I thought I did them on my Macbook but turns out I did them on this system and it's tax season and I don't have a copy of my last year's taxes. :(Somehow I managed to break the SATA connector of this old Hitachi hard drive and as you can see all the pins are bad and one of the pins is even missing. I ordered a new controller board for this drive but thought, that I will buy also this external disc reader as I no longer had a computer (roasted by a lightning strike) I carefully inserted this disc into the disc reader and to my surprise my laptop was able to read the disc and so could I was able to copy almost anything I wanted I couldn't dig too deep into some directories (I suspect the missing PIN had something to do with it), but I'm very pleased that this reader allowed me to get what I needed more +.I've posted a photo of my drive so you can see what I was dealing with.I'm sure almost any reader would do the same but I'm very happy with the purchase of the this reader. I'm sure you will be too! Yes, I am definitely I recommend this product t. I probably won't use it often, but I know it will be reliable when I do.
