I have had a plain ceramic white santoku knife made from Kyrocera for many years. Eventually it chipped and then cracked and I had to throw it away but that was after years of use. It's been a great knife for a long time. I was excited to get this knife as it should have lasted even longer, but it mysteriously cracked after just a few days (don't know when that happened). I haven't used it for anything other than slicing boneless chicken and possibly berries. On closer inspection, I also noticed very small chips. I think this new material is too brittle to be as useful as the old white blade. I gave 2 stars because it is very spicy.
