Works with Android!

I got this for a live FB performance 'Thank you' for the people who helped raise funds for the meal. I have to move the camera back a bit to get the whole band in frame, but I need a good omnidirectional mic that's close to the musicians (remote mic). Using a microphone on a smartphone is almost normal to capture a single person (video selfie), but as soon as you have to move the camera back to capture a large group, the inverse square law kills the audio. My first internal tests confirmed that this was not the case. decent quality and omnidirectionality. Received a USB adapter tonight to connect to my Motorola Android phone. At first I thought it was a failure. There was no new device discovery notification, nothing. For the sake of a smile, I tapped the phone and tapped the body of the microphone. The microphone was live! Just plug it in and it works! I was concerned about how this would affect the phone's battery life. Finally, the microphone needs to be powered by an op-amp, an ADC, and a USB chip. I let the recording sit for half an hour and the battery level only dropped 5%. Wonderful! This makes downloading and setting up much easier. No heavy equipment, just a phone tripod and mic stand and a few cables.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
