I recently moved and lost my egg slicer. It's egg salad time and I need a new food slicer. I tested several styles including the classic and some "composite" styles in this style. I decided to push myself a little and try this style. Some reviews said the wires were weak. I find them to be quite durable - I think they will hold up to normal home use. I'm not sure I've ever used a "wedge" cutter, but a regular "blade" for cutting and a blade cut in half should come in handy. It comes with a small brush to help with cleaning, although I've found it easy to clean if I hold it under the sprayer on the sink. Hope that helps!
