I like small slices but I can hardly squeeze

I love this product for small apple slices more suitable for children. The problem is that the "cutting edges" aren't sharp and obviously there are a lot of them - making it almost impossible for a child to use and difficult for an adult to control. I often don't make a clean, straight cut because I have to push (lean) so hard that I can't control the cut. This causes it to be cut at an angle and I end up with a bunch of "core" on half the pieces and then lots of extra small pieces on the other side.
