I'm hooked best in my review

I stumbled upon Innersense products just recently, as I've been doing research into how to clean up my hair routine. I've been using "natural" hair products for years (Acure, Pacifica) as well as the DevaCurl line, but just felt that nothing did my hair justice. I've got thick, medium-porosity, shoulder length, wavy-curly hair that, over the years, has started to go flat and limp; I've used a curling iron almost every day for the past 5 years to get it to cooperate. So recently, I decided to quit my sulfates, harsh surfactants, fragrances, and other questionable ingredients - as well as my heat tools - cold turkey, and let my hair re-learn how to do its thing. That's where Innersense came into the equation.Their website will tell you, when you first try their products, to stick it out through the first 14 wash days, as there can be a pretty hefty transition period for both your scalp and hair. I bought the trial size of their products because I honestly wasn't sure I could hack it, and didn't want to be out a ton of money. My transition period lasted a full two months - I looked horrible, and my hair was intensely greasy (even after washing) and flat. I cried many times, friends; it was bad. (My mom was trying to do this with me, but bailed out after only a few weeks. And she's no wimp.) I didn't even have my curling iron to hide behind anymore. I thought I would be hideous forever. I went through two sets of the trial size bottles, still not wanting to commit, but eventually the tides began to turn. My stylist was ecstatic, even by the end of the first month, that my hair was more "piecey" and was starting to curl at the roots again. I started clarifying my hair once or twice a week to aid the transition, and I started working on my gut health - both helped reduce the weird oiliness of my scalp. Now, at week 9 or 10, I can safely say that my hair is on the right track. Still waiting for a lot of the damaged bits to grow out, but the new growth is looking great. I have settled on the Pure Harmony Hairbath (lots of it; because it doesn't get sudsy, I need a lot to get it all the way to the root), Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner (less of this; I just scrunch it into my ends in the shower to keep it from weighing me down), Quiet Calm Curl Control (for definition), and I Create Waves (for texture). I abandoned the Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner (included in this trio) pretty early on, as I felt it weighed down my hair and made it too greasy.Yes, this stuff is expensive, but it is working on my hair the way no other products have. I'm sold.

Pros
  • Love this shampoo line. Wanted to try it without investing lots of $$$$
Cons
  • May not provide enough volume for those with fine, limp hair
