Add some weather protection

I took a close look at this unit before installing it on our 19ft bow rider and found a design issue that I hope will solve can solve. The connector on the bottom of the antenna coil does not mate perfectly with the plastic of the coil housing. There is a gap on the thread between them and I can see the metal continuing into the base. Looks like a place where salt water can get in. I installed a strip of RTV silicone gasket at this point and the brace pushes against it once the mounting nut is back in place. I will also run a strip of silicone sealant across the top of the coax connector as the salt water will want to splash and run down the connector contaminating the coax cable. Will be updated at the end of the boating season.

Pros
  • Stainless steel L-Bracket for side or mast mount
Cons
  • Some bugs
