Review on StorageOS by Adam Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent option if looking solely from perspective

We used this as an AWS S3 compatible object store that was easy to setup into our kubernete deployment without any hassel (AWS only).

The integration of K8s/KOPS into it seemed like extra overhead compared to simply using other providers such as EBS etc. If you are in need of compatibility between multiple infrastructure environments then I would look at integrating into Azure Blob instead! There really isn't anything not liked about the product itself just how expensive it became after we had been running it successfully for some time. Using GCP managed blob services rather than pay per use EC2 instances meant costs were much less, however there's still room for improvement with regards to pricing structure which can be quite high.

Pros
  • Easy way deploy objects across different cloud platforms ebs storage or samba shares great support from vendors when required
Cons
  • Not very cheap
  • Complex configuration process
