Robust and drives well!. switchable earcups aren't very switchable, but I've never shown my daughter that they sound surprisingly good and are good at buffering ambient noise. We used it on the plane and on a 3 hour car ride. On an airplane, the volume should be at least mid-range to hear the iPad clearly. and in the car, my wife and I can talk without our daughter having to ask if the conversation is directed at her, allowing for a real "mature" conversation. again, without too much volume or the worry of earbuds falling out and falling out.
