Perfect Fit - Exterior Accessories

I have a new Mazda CX-5 with a front license plate hanging under the bumper in front of the air intake. As far as I know, this machine does not have an OEM front mount. On previous cars I have found that after years of high speed winds and automatic car washes hitting the license plate, the front license plate can eventually bend. I wanted to find a plate mount/mount that would provide some support behind the plate. After scouring the internet for plate mount options, I finally settled on Dorman Help! 68148. I chose this one mainly because it's metal and low profile (not crappy). I was a little worried about the size since the specs here say 15 x 8 or so. But it turned out to be the perfect size for a standard 12" x 6" platter. I measured the mount to be exactly 12.5" wide and 6.125" tall. The tolerances are therefore quite sufficient for a license plate in the size 12x6. The edges fold in on three sides to "hold" the panel in place. There are many mounting holes for different situations, but I just used the top two standard holes. I see you can't just mount a second plate frame on top of this bracket as they are meant to be flush mounted. top of the plate. But with this mount, the rolled edges protrude about 1/4 inch above the panel surface. It is true that the frame comes with no instructions or hardware so you may need to purchase screws separately. I may have to revise this review again. next winter when there's salt, ice and snowcake. I hope the metal composition is strong enough for that. Just take a look.
