I used to have a cut Contigo water bottle that I loved (no straw). Bought this as a replacement after losing it - disappointed that the Contigo didn't have a pressure relief system. I live in Denver and travel to the mountains all the time, 4000 feet up. If you let the pressure build (spout closed, lid tight) and then open the spout, you'll get a 3-foot jet of water straight in your face. If you leave the spout open as you climb up, the water will just spill out of the spout and over your cup holder (I probably lost 1/4 bottle in my new car before realizing what was going on). You can remove the straw to avoid this problem, but it makes an annoying creaking noise if you don't choose the perfect drinking angle. The only other way to avoid the pressure problem is to unscrew the cap before each drink to release the pressure, which obviously isn't ideal for driving. I would recommend buying the straw free version if you fly or drive through the mountains a lot.
