We have bikes - not like most normal people have cars and bikes, I'm talking 25 in the garage and over the years we've owned and restored (I know we're weird) hundreds. Off-road bikes, adventure bikes, vintage motocross bikes, and modern sport bikes all require decals at one point or another, so you can imagine how many times I've donned those damn things. I've tried all sorts of tricks - alcohol, half alcohol and water, Windex, etc. etc. Some of these substances make it easier to apply, but will reduce the adhesive edge of the sticker over time. Others allow sticking too quickly. Almost everything leaves at least a few bubbles that can't be removed to the brim, so I end up poking them with a needle to remove them, leaving little spots that collect dirt and grime that are difficult to remove . So when my husband bought an expensive set of decals for his new sport bike, you can imagine how excited I was when I had to put them on. This project not only had to look good, it also had to stay that way for a long time. Adding to the complexity of this setup was the fact that each of these 12 sticker positions had compound radii that required the flat stickers to fit the curved plastic. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I knew my usual process of spraying everything with a water-alcohol soap mix, swearing, scratching, swearing, using a heat gun, and then swearing more wouldn't help, so I searched the internet. Through many internet forums I decided to try Rapid Tac. I bought Rapid Tac Application Fluid and Rapid Prep Cleaner yes they are not cheap and yes they come in a small bottle but if they could help me get good results without ruining the expensive sticker kit thought I think it would be a good investment. I brought all the plastic inside, removed the old graphics, then washed it all in hot soapy water and then set it aside to dry completely overnight. The next morning I checked the installation information on the Rapid Tac website and then gently wiped the first piece of plastic with Rapid Prep, using regular cheap paper towels as recommended. Then I sprayed Rapid Tac onto the plastic, removed the backing from the decal and sprayed it on, then applied the decal. Once it was properly installed (after a few simple movements), I started squeezing out the liquid, starting in the middle. The liquid came out easily with no bubbles. I used a heat gun to lighten the decal around the corners and was able to work on the decal for at least 15 minutes before it was completely dry and ready to install. All 12 decals were applied to 6 pieces of plastic in about an hour. No bubbles, no wrinkles, the work looks professional. I could never have done it without Rapid Tac. If this is your first time installing graphics, you won't be able to understand how incredibly useful this product is, but if you've struggled to get perfect results before, you'll absolutely love this stuff. Follow the instructions, make sure you are working with a 100% clean surface, you will be amazed at the results.
