Okay I installed this in Florida and installed it in Tennessee. Doesn't matter. We don't spend as much money on bottled water anymore. We don't have a strong smell of chlorine when showering. Activated carbon filters are VERY standard for this. I found them BOTH at my local HomeDepot and at Lowes. My biggest complaint is that 10 years later after sitting on the street in Florida the rubber seal came off and I tightened it. So every 6 months when I go to change the filter I have to fight to unscrew it. I just swapped it and didn't tighten it. Much better. I buy 4 of these filters each time (I think 12.00 for 2 packs). Which is CRAZY economical. We still buy bottled water, but mostly to get out of the house. If you get them to install this PAY EXTRA and ask them to install 2 quarter turn check valves. One on each side. It is very easy to replace it. But I only installed one so I don't have to turn off the water in the house. Unfortunately, when you unscrew these, the water that has already passed through the filter comes back to you. In TN it's under the house so it literally drains all the water while I change it. Back then it would have cost 25-35.00 extra. Now it will cost much more. It's not worth it.
