Works great when you need more USB ports like I did with the Surface Pro 4 which only gives you one. This splits one into four ports and provides speeds of up to 5Gbps. (The speed depends on the type of USB port and devices used.) Example. Using this device connected to USB 2.0 ports will affect the speed and power available to the USB port being used, which will affect the performance of your devices. The same in reverse. If you're using an older device that doesn't support these high speeds, you'll never see the top speeds. If you use this, you have to remember that the number of devices you can use depends on your USB power port. (Not all are created equal.) Some are less powerful than others. USB 1 and 2 draw around 500mAh, USB 3.0 can go up to 900mAh and USB 3.1 can go up to 3000mAh or 3 amps. However, to run a Samsung Micro 32GB USB drive, I can plug in the phone's USB adapter and use it to connect the USB to HDMI graphics adapter. If you are using multiple devices and have a problem, simply connect the micro USB cable to your computer or wall adapter. to give you the extra strength you need. As always, I'll update this review if this doesn't work with current usage or evolving issues.
