Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice player but not included. No Regions

***** Another new review. I complained to the company and they sent me a new unit that works. Bye. ********** November 14, 2020: I am changing my review on this again. After this device was working fine since August, it suddenly stopped working. Every time I insert a disc it says "no disc". I can't even play CDs on it. Tried unplugging and then plugging it back in, still doesn't work. Phew, I just got used to seeing my Region 2 DVDs again! ***** This player came in the mail an hour ago and I've rushed to set it up. First if you are buying this as a cheap DVD player for an extra player in the guest room or for use with small children who could damage it. plays well I tested a full screen DVD (FLAMBARDS, unrestored), wide screen (ANNE OF GREEN GABLES High Definition Version) and something with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (AIRPORT). Good picture, nice sound. Nice little remote control. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT AS RECOMMENDED. Although the listing says it comes with an RCA cable, it is shown as HDMI in the photos, with the HDMI icon in the image and the HDMI cable in the foreground. THIS IS NOT HDMI. I could leave it alone. I was running out of HDMI ports anyway. No, that is not so. I was looking forward to watching my UK DVDs. So, as far as I understand, this is a complete failure. (Later: The manufacturer changed the image to indicate that it is not HDMI. However, it still says REGION FREE, which is not the case.) (Also later: If you contact the manufacturer via the FAQ OR If you contact the email address provided in the brochure that came with the DVD player, you will receive instructions in PDF format. For your information, here are the instructions to make it region free: Plug in the RCA cables and switch on Insert the device. Do not insert a disc and do not leave the device open without a disc.
