It may have suited many, but definitely not my pup. I have a medium sized puppy that will inhale food in seconds. I have to admit that the shape of the shell slowed him down considerably, so in that sense it served its purpose. However, this was the first time he used it, it was new and different. Second meal of the day, it's smarter, the bowl is very light, the non-slip pads don't work on tiles, the bowl effortlessly slides anywhere. So in a jiffy he turned the bowl over and dumped the food to swallow. As he turned, a few non-slip pads popped out and he tried to eat them too (no fun for either of us sticking silicone pads out of the mouth of a small vacuum cleaner). In the dishwasher, I think, it was possible to wash, but you still had to take care that the bottom did not fill with water and dry out completely. All in all it's a fail for us but if you have a gentler pup it could be great.
