Before I bought this item I spent a few hours researching what my 220V (10-30R) outlet for the dryer was and I was a bit wary because my preferred device had a plug. like 10-30P but I tried because my socket was rated for 30A and the device only claims 16A and the plug should fit. It really fit and worked like a charm the first time I plugged it in. Bought a PHEV with a small 17kWh battery that took 12 hours to charge from a standard 120V outlet. The dealer offered to install a 40A charger that would cost several thousand dollars, along with electrician work, which seemed excessive for a PHEV. I was very happy to see that this "only 16A" charger got me from 0 to full in less than 5 hours, allowing me to schedule a charge in the middle of the night when electricity is cheaper.
