Review on Nelson-Rigg Stormrider Waterproof Rain Suit for Enhanced Protection by Terrance Fisher

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Suitable for short term use, not long haul

My friends and I just used this suit on a 2 week motorcycle trip from Chicago to Alaska and back. There were a few days where we had to wear it for hours and a few days where we had to wear it for almost a full 12 hour ride day. My jacket has held up great. The zipper on her jacket came open at the halfway point in the seam and could only be closed with Velcro, which luckily worked enough to keep her torso dry. My pants had frayed through part of the waterproof lining in the seat area, leaving me wet, and then the seam on the inside of my left thigh ripped. I taped the seam inside and out and kept using it. They worked well when I only had to wear them for a few hours. When I finally got home, my butt was completely flooded with water, causing my pants to soak up water from my butt to my socks. As I was on the last leg of my journey home it didn't really matter, but I threw my pants away as soon as I got home. Keep this suit in your saddlebags for the occasional "I'm an hour away from home and it's raining" saddlebags, but if you're counting on this suit to stay dry for long days and long periods of time in the saddle, I would look elsewhere. I cannot in good conscience recommend this suit for long journeys or trips.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Expensive
