Review on πŸ”‘ Keychron K3 RGB V2 Keyboard: Low Profile Brown Optical Switch, Grey, English for an Enhanced Typing Experience by Micha Jelonek ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything is fine, there are only minor drawbacks.

For me, this is the first mechanical keyboard and the requirements that I outlined for it are fulfilled, namely: the ability to work without wires, low profile, low noise, switching between devices, TKL, and backlighting. After 7 years of writing code daily using apple keyboards, the layout and pressing force are unusual here. Due to the absence of the Fn key to the left of ctrl, I often miss hotkeys, the same applies to the arrows - on keychron they are not isolated, but combined with shift and end, which often leads to pressing "up shift" or "shift + ctrl + to the left", the location of the del / backspace key is also strange - they are not on the edge, because of which, out of habit, I will either press page up or change the backlight. Yes, and the keys themselves are low-profile, but not enough relative to apple. If you look at the apple, then there is no free space between the keys, but in the keychron there is emptiness between the keys, and in my opinion, this increases the requirements for input accuracy, since the pressing area itself becomes larger and I often cling to a pair of keys instead of one. Overall, the keyboard is good, but for me it's still a pain in the .

Pros
  • Quiet, wireless, low profile, short, three-device switchable, backlit.
Cons
  • Low key threshold, which often leads to misclicks. In shooters, "just lying" fingers on WASD sometimes lead to triggers. The battery sits down in 3 days (with backlight).
