Review on πŸ“ Accurate Coating Thickness Testing with Extech CG204 Coating Thickness Tester by David Sokolov

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This little one is a gem!

I'm not sure how often I would use it, but I've found many uses including coating thickness. Do you want to check the paint thickness on your car? Almost any coating covering ferrous or non-ferrous metals can be measured. You can even use the test metals that came with the device to put something in the meter range over it and get very accurate readings. I recently bought some small storage bags for ziplock parts and wanted to know their thickness. I put a sample sheet of metal in a bag, stretched it out and measured the thickness. To my surprise, the 4 mil packages measured 3.8 mils. Extremely accurate! To achieve this level of accuracy, all you need to do is calibrate using the included test plates and thickness sheets. Once you've done this, reset the counter before each use and you'll get very accurate readings. I would recommend this gauge to anyone who wants or needs to check coating thickness for many applications.
