These days when you're housebound it's important to have a microphone that can reproduce your sound clearly. I've worked from home a lot for a long time (even until recently) and couldn't speak up on a conference call. I was mostly ignored. What difference does this microphone make? I used the included Ableton software to get the level right (high enough to pick up my voice but low enough not to pick up too many extra clicks and pops - yes it's that sensitive) and then left the level unchanged . Now I know why they put the level *behind*. So ignore the "professional" reviewers in trade journals who complain about it. When I speak now, people listen. When speaking, I have to be very careful not to interrupt others. A great feeling. I use it in "front" mode, of course (best for a single voice), but my son also uses it in tight stereo to record homework for his remote music class. So it's a very versatile device. No complex software is required to change modes - a simple rotary knob is enough. Think about it.
