I think I didn't read the instructions carefully enough, but the faucet works two ways. 1) You click on it, it stays for a few minutes and you click on it. 2) You bring your hand to it, it turns on and stays on as long as your hand moves around it (e.g. washing hands). When the movement stops, the water will stop after a few seconds. Both modes work great! Sometimes I'll start out by putting something near the faucet, but over time I'll get used to it. as young as I was). I have installed faucets before and found it very easy. You use a wrench to connect the supply lines and everything else just snaps into place. Plus, Delta finally nailed it and made the drain stem out of flexible plastic. I could never get the solid metal ones to align and adjust properly, but the flexible one was easy. The faucet I replaced was a wide spaced 3 hole faucet and the item provided was not designed to cover it. I solved this situation by buying a pair of identical bronze soap dispensers. I could also use a bronze end cap but that would be a waste of time. I have one for soap and one for orange cleaner (after working on my car).
