Weak plastic / short hooks - only fit some picture frames / hanging styles

I've just moved and have a lot of pictures and artwork to hang up. Having done this before, I didn't want to run around with a spirit level, tape measure, pencil, etc. (And then my SO said everything was wrong and I had to do it all over again.) I really hoped it would product that will save me. Problem #1 to be aware of. The plastic hooks on the device that you attach to the frame are very short and a bit thick. If you have a frame that allows you to hang sawtooth hangers with jagged edges or something very close to the frame itself, you don't have much room to work with. In fact, it would be better if the hooks were much smaller in diameter and the "shoulders" were a little longer so that accurate measurements can be obtained with frames that do not use wire. Problem #2, which seems to contradict #1, is that the plastic hooks are VERY flimsy. One broke when I pressed it to mark the nail hole on the 3rd picture I hung. The device is now practically unusable. I know - I was just saying that the hooks themselves should be smaller. And now I say that they should be stronger. I recommend using something other than low quality plastic. Maybe part of the hook should be metal? Something that won't break on the third use with moderate pressure? Last question - that would be very helpful. Even if the device works fine and you hang the frame from a wire, it's still difficult to get the vertical arms perfectly aligned. There are ruler marks on the hands, but you're trying to measure 1/8 inch with a giant inch-diameter yellow notebook. It would be really helpful to have some kind of reference mark or a way to get a more accurate vertical measurement so you know the two arms are at the same height when you hang the photo in the wire frame. Conclusion: Even though I felt like I did everything correctly and according to the instructions, I found that the paintings weren't perfectly even and I had to break out the spirit level and pencils and drill additional holes in my freshly painted walls. A great idea. It just needs a little more development work. I didn't think it was ready for prime time.
