Here in South Florida, sunshirts (technical fabrics used for kayaking and beach walking) have a strong smell. The smell doesn't go away with washing. I looked for help with this problem and found that some people had better luck with washing soda. It seemed counterintuitive to me that old-fashioned washing soda could be better than modern detergents, but washing soda actually worked. I'm not sure if this is a property of the soda or if the soda just leaves less residue. I don't use washing soda every time because detergent has other benefits too - I usually do a few loads with powdered detergent and then load washing soda or some detergent plus washing soda every few weeks. It's worked much better with stink so far and brings back the technical cloth shirts I gave up. I have used Arm & Hammer washing soda and this brand. I don't see any difference to be honest, so your choice may be determined by other factors (e.g. this brand's focus on more sustainable solutions). I would like the packaging to state where the product is sourced/manufactured. It says the company is based in Maine, but I couldn't find details of the sources. I like that this product is odorless.
