The base watch is a good deal and appears to be well made. They have 2 gems (on the balance wheel) so should last a long time, although not destined to become a family heirloom. Let's face it - it's a cheap watch and the hands are so thin and barely protrude beyond the 'bare' front view of the movement which is bloody hard to read. The case looks cheap (Uh-huh! Cheap, after all, so "gift" isn't a strong point.), with fake engraving. However, it keeps time very well, so I bought it to take with me. My pocket when wearing a watch can endanger the watch, so I am happy with the purchase. Wider, longer hands should have made it easier to tell the time, but it does what I bought it for.
