Great cloth diaper accessory!

When I first started using cloth diapers, everything was a little overwhelming; Spray bottle, wet bag, dry bucket, deodorant and the list goes on and on. None of these were necessary, mind you, but they make mom's (and dad's) diaper life that much smoother. It wasn't until I did this for a while that I stopped realizing that there's no point in using disposable wipes if I don't have a disposable diaper that I can just throw away in. I put them in a disposable freshness bag, but then it dawned on me that I was ignoring the simplest accessory; cloth napkins! When we had H, the hospital used tissue wipes, and it was much easier to remove the sticky meconium with a real wipe dampened with warm water than with a disposable wipe. There are many "recipes". For homemade wiping solutions, you can purchase a ready-made solution like bumGenius Bottom Cleaner 4oz or California Baby Non-Burning & Calming Diaper Area Wash (6.5oz), or you can turn on the faucet and use plain water. The features fit any budget and this is just another way to simplify the process. The napkins I chose first are Imse Vimse Unbleached Flannel Napkins (12 pack), they are organic unbleached flannel and so soft. Although slightly smaller than traditional wipes, they do the job and clean and dry well. I still pack disposable wipes in a diaper bag (dispose of them with the biodegradable bag) and use them to clean my hands and face after lunch at the park or other walks, but I'm hoping to use one on this trip Cloth nappy will further streamline the process so everything is ready for child #3 (after C potty training of course!)
