My small 5kg dog needed surgery to remove a bump behind his ear so we needed something to keep him from combing his stitches, until they heal. It's hard to find a traditional cone her size and I wanted something more comfortable for her. This collar is the perfect solution. She can sleep in it and has full freedom of movement to eat, drink, etc. The collar is wide enough that her foot cannot reach it when she tries to scratch her ear. There are two ways to attach the collar around the collar. dog neck. There are loops on the inside of the collar that a regular dog collar goes through and then there is Velcro that runs on the outside. We only use the outer strap which is enough to get it on but I can imagine other straps would be useful for a stronger dog that is more active. I had no problem inflating the collar and I love that you can choose how much to inflate. Highly recommended.
