Ignore negative reviews. I have a 55 gallon tank that just keeps getting worse no matter what I do. I do weekly gravel cleaning (I have a few goldfish) and weekly 20-25% water changes, but the water is getting worse and worse. It got to the point where I couldn't even see the thermometer in my back or the fish swimming in my back. The water was a yellowish, greenish and brownish mixture. Something drastic was about to happen so I went online, bought this product, read and reread the instructions. Common sense and following the manufacturer's instructions are essential to the correct and safe operation of this product. You will need 1 ml per 12 gallons. You cannot use this in an aquarium that has been set for less than 3 months. You need to add this in areas where there is a lot of water movement, or you need to dilute it in a cup of aquarium water. Since this is my first time using this product, I decided to dilute it in a cup of water in case I made a mistake. A teaspoon is 5mL so I used it but didn't fill it all the way (if I did it would be 60 gallons, mine is 55). I quickly cleaned gravel (removed 5 gallons) and quickly wiped down the inner glass, and I added pre-diluted Tetra Algae Control before pouring new water. Then I poured my purified water, sat down to watch football and hoped for the best. It took me about 5 hours to see evidence of a blue background, plus another 3 hours to read the numbers on my thermometer. At this point it was one in the morning so I went to bed and woke up to a beautiful aquarium. The water was crystal clear. My fish swam normally and none have died since. I thought I would have to do up to 3 cans to get rid of all the algae, but it only took 1 to get my aquarium in perfect condition. Other reviews claimed it made their tank cloudy or worse, but I didn't notice because my water was already terrible. Please give this product a chance. For anyone wary of "positively paid" reviews, don't forget that companies also pay people to leave negative reviews about their competitors. Do as much research as you can and read reviews on other major websites that sell the same product. Follow the instructions on the T and you won't regret it.
