Review on 🔧 KNIPEX Tools - Precision External Circlip Pliers, Straight, Shaft Dia. 1 37/64"-3 15/16" (4911A3) by Michael Finnegan

After using several pairs of reverse ratcheting pliers with long lock rings (the reverse switch can bind and become damaged if you pull the tool too hard when the lock ring pops out), I decided me to move away from the generic pincer style. These night and day pliers from Knipex differ from the pliers from Lang. The angle of the pins hold the snap rings very securely. With Lang pliers the locking rings are constantly popping out of the pliers and ringing around the room (eventually causing the switch to fail), but with Knipex pliers you can swing the pliers and bang the ring against the shafts/housing and it will stay open for sure the pliers. I also find it easier to install the ratchetless rings into their grooves like the Langs because you don't have to try to squeeze the pliers to take the tension off the ratchet lock and then loosen the lock with one hand while you're doing it it holds . With the other hand, align the retaining ring with the groove. It's really easy with a pair of Knipex pliers; Simply line up the retaining ring with the groove and release the pliers. Knipex knows how to make pliers durable. These are not my first Knipex pliers and certainly not the last.
