Although they, like most fabric marking tools, caution against checking the fabric to make sure it doesn't leave permanent marks, I (unwisely) do so. I didn't assume that the fabric "chalk" - and it's not wax - should be washed off the quilted cotton. Definitely NOT like that - I now have permanent yellow stains (only in a small area, thankfully) from the quilt I made. I've tried all the cleaning methods I know of, but to no avail. Why they recommend using them as fabric markers when the colors can't be seen is a mystery... also the 1/2 pieces were broken into 1/2 1" pieces. brought her back
