You have changed the upholstery. Our 2 year old Protec helmet had flexible, durable foam padding covered in thick fabric foam padding. It is very comfortable. These new ones are made out of the cheap, very stiff, gray styrofoam found in kids' bike helmets. This rock-hard styrofoam is covered with a thin layer of foam padding. Extremely uncomfortable. My son doesn't need a reason not to wear a helmet. I guess I'll have to go to my local sporting goods store to find a brand we can trust. Update - you can still find the old comfortable helmets. Look for the Classic with two-tier upholstery.
