Love this thing! I was a bit on the fence but I'm very glad I got it. It is very convenient that you can just turn to the edge of the table, pour hot water, and then wait for the tea to brew. You don't want to wait for the water to cool down for lower temperatures. I only ever pour in filtered (Brita) water, which eliminates the need to use the boil function in most cases; but I still simmer it from time to time to kill germs. Every few months or so I drain the remaining water and gently wash the inside with dish soap and a cloth to remove the light film that forms. Power Consumption: This thing uses 700 watts of power to heat up, this takes about 15-20 minutes or so depending on how much water is in the tank. It constantly uses 30 watts of power to keep the water warm. If you're energy conscious like me, the energy required to heat water is equivalent to "holding" the temperature in about 10 hours. So if you use hot water again in less than 10 hours, just leave it on. One last note, the musical note it plays when it's done after heating it with hot water is like a little symphony for laughs. for the first time I heard it.
