This product does not heat above 158°, to safely prepare jerky the temperature must be at least 160°. I don't think this should be sold with the intention of making jerky safe in this machine, there was an instruction manual that came with this machine that clearly stated Beef Jerky at 160° and Pork at 165° should be heated. Purchasing this machine that claims to make jerky gives the false impression that this machine is safe to use to dehydrate jerky. So I dumped a large batch of meat and marinade and put it on the baking sheets to find that the machine heats to 158° and it wasn't until I read the instructions that I found out it only went to 158. I thought I did something wrong what I do with knobs but now after reading I found out I need to prepare it differently before installing it on the car. What a waste of my time. And for that much money you can just cook jerky without having to go through the jerky process in the oven to make the meat safe first, that's too much work. I'm returning this machine and buying another one that's a little more expensive and heats up to 172.
