I wanted a *slim* mouse pad so the edge wouldn't rub against my wrist. This mouse pad is definitely thin, so it meets my criteria. However, I believe that aluminum makes you cold. It's not a deal breaker, but it's noticeable. Also, the smooth side can slide on the table surface so spacers may be needed if you want that side to be down. All in all a good mouse pad. I'm happy with that.
