Personally I paid $80 for mine. Great tripod for medium loads. Rugged enough for any shooting situation, except perhaps when using an extra long and heavy 600mm telephoto lens with 600mm. It would probably be ok with the right gimbal head, but personally I would like something a little more beefy for that. But for everyday shots with a 300mm or wide-angle lens? That's a great tripod! Very light and compact. The locks on the legs are very tight, they really lock and the legs are very strong. Without hesitation. The tips of the legs are unscrewable, allowing you to change them from rubber to pointed steel. The center post was a little stiff to move up and down, mostly due to a lack of lubrication. It's just a metal center post that slides up and down in a composite hub. I put a small drop of WD40 in it and smeared it around. JUST ONE TOUCH. It glides like butter now and the tie collar keeps it very snug either way. No slipping down. Three legs can be swung to the side about a foot off the ground for long and long range shots. It is made entirely of metal of one kind or another. Except for the locks on the legs. they are plastic. This is a very good basic tripod. Definitely recommend!
