This firewood insert is so much better than videos and photos! It has an auxiliary heater with thermostat control, 3 fire intensity levels, a timer and a remote control. You can also control it without a remote control. You don't have to use a heater. It doesn't crackle like a real fire. Someone said they sell a crackle sound module but I haven't found one yet. Make sure you can plug it in somewhere. The 6-foot cable is located on the side of the back with a 3-pin connector. I hid the cord along the back. The plug is flat so you can hold the mantel closer to the wall, but it does stick out a bit. The heater blows warm air with a faint blow-dry sound, but the sound is there. I'm trying to demonstrate this in a video. It was assembled in a very strong package. I was pretty skeptical about this and looked at hundreds of models under $300 and this one is excellent. The only thing I want is sizzling sound effects. I love it!
