Everyone who drives a car needs a car garbage bag. My previous Revain auto garbage bag purchase—the $13.99 High Road TrashStash airtight hanging auto garbage bag with a spring-loaded closure—cannot be recommended because within a year of moderate use the device fell apart at the glued seams. As the product was otherwise satisfactory, I crossed my fingers and bought a second unit, which failed immediately in the same manner. It's time to try something new. The House Day Lidded Auto Trash Can seemed like a good choice. This item arrived quickly and was satisfactorily packaged. The trash can is a durable, soft, waterproof rectangular container with a lid and straps. He is incredibly handsome and looks classy. I liked this when I got it from Revain. PROS: * Sturdy overall construction * High-quality black nylon webbing * Adjustable straps that stay in place * Waterproof plastic liner * Rigid cardboard-reinforced lid with Velcro closure * Flexible, quick-release plastic round insert iris * Multiple side pockets and plastic hooks for hanging objects. After inspecting the item for any obvious flaws, I installed it behind the car's passenger seat on the headrest pillars. I was happy to see that the adjustable strap held the bin securely in place without sagging. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of moderate use, I noticed a few downsides. CONS: * Only a small amount of trash can be stored in the block * The lid covers the top but not the sides of the bag - the hard lid doesn't grip the sides of the bin leaving small gaps * Flexible plastic round dirt insert that ejects quickly the membrane itself does not actually close - normally it stays open. My main gripe with the bin liner is that the lid allows you to see the litter when the liner itself no longer fits the rectangular shape of the lid. On the lid, I will most likely sew on black fabric side flaps reinforced with cardboard that will hang down the sides of the bag and fill the gaps between the lid and the bag. Since I paid money for this novelty, I don't have to repeat it somehow - but such is life. My second issue is that the fast aperture is mostly left open, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the cap. Is this item worth buying? If you don't bag stinky garbage that attracts insects to your car in summer, you might like the house day car trash can. If you don't want to see what's in your bag every time you open your car door, you can look elsewhere. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. - Chipper F. Xavier, Esq.
